May is National Pet Month

If there's anything that drives us at AAPM, Walk About Pet, and The Wild Bone Co. it's our love for pets! This month is National Pet Month, created to celebrate our pets and the joy they bring to our lives. While most pets are considered family and have become the center of many peoples' lives regardless of the month, May is a great time to focus on why pets are so great and how we can celebrate them!

Why We Celebrate

Isn't it obvious? Because we love our pets! Not only do pets serve as loyal companions, they also have some science-backed health benefits. For example, John Hopkins Medicine reports that pets reduce stress, help with depression, lower blood pressure, and boost heart health! That's why we strive to produce the healthiest pet food & treats on the market. Because they're more than pets - they're family.

How to Celebrate

There's no better time than during National Pet Month to remember how to celebrate your pets! Below are a few ways to celebrate your furry friends, not only in May, but year round!

1. Go on a New Adventure

Last month was Active Dog Month, a great reminder of the importance of exercise for dogs specifically. The weather continues to improve as we head into summer, so now is a great time to find a new trail or park to explore! You could also visit a dog-friendly restaurant with your pup or take your cat to a pet store to observe the fish and birds.

2. Spoil Your Pet

Most of us don't need a reason to spoil our pets, but if you do, what better reason than National Pet Month? During May, give your pet some special treats and toys. Some folks even take their pet on a special vacation!

3. Recommit to Health

There's more to a healthy pet than exercise and now is a great time to recommit to their wellbeing. Make sure you are scheduling regular vet visits, taking care of their dental hygiene, and are ready in case first aid is needed. In addition, consider switching their food from something unhealthy, to something nutritious like Walk About Canine Exotics Super Premium Dog Food.

4. Train Your Dog

Training is essential in responsible dog ownership. Training your dog not only fosters improved behavior but also provides essential mental stimulation, preventing boredom and destructive habits. It's the key to creating a harmonious living environment for both you and your pet. In fact, mental exercise can be more tiring than physical exercise! 5. Adopt a New Pet

You may not yet have a pet, or are interested in an addition to your family. There are so many pets in shelters that need a good home. Just be sure you are ready and prepared for your new furry friend! Pet ownership is a serious responsibility that not everyone is ready for. If you are ready, National Pet Month is a great time to get a new pet!

Celebrate Year Round

Although May is quickly coming to an end, we should celebrate our pets for their entire lives! Ensure you are educated on your pet and how to give them the best life possible. Pets are a gift to humans, providing companionship, entertainment, and purpose as well as real health benefits. So celebrate your pet in the best way you can!
